Professional Chemical Peels – BCN Peels & DOCTOR BABOR PRO AHA

Targeted Exfoliation · Skin Renewal · Clarity & Radiance

At Glowvia Beauty Lab, professional skin renewal begins with understanding your individual skin needs. Chemical peels offer a targeted approach to exfoliation, helping improve the appearance of surface texture, dullness, congestion and certain uneven skin-tone concerns.

Our professional skincare range includes Institute BCN Peel #01, #02 and #03, together with DOCTOR BABOR PRO Professional AHA Peeling formulations. These products offer different exfoliation approaches designed around specific skin concerns and treatment intensities.

Chemical exfoliation is not a one-size-fits-all treatment. The appropriate formulation, treatment intensity and professional requirements must be considered carefully before any peel is performed.

What Is a Chemical Peel?

A chemical peel is a skin-exfoliation procedure that uses specially formulated ingredients to encourage the removal of accumulated surface skin cells.

Depending on the formulation, chemical peels may contain alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs), beta hydroxy acids (BHAs) or combinations of exfoliating ingredients.

Different acids have different properties. The strength and depth of a peel depend on multiple factors, including acid concentration, pH, formulation, application method and individual skin response.

When appropriately selected, chemical exfoliation may contribute to a smoother-looking complexion, improved surface clarity and a more even appearance.

How Do Chemical Peels Work?

Chemical exfoliation works by influencing the outer layers of the skin and promoting the shedding of accumulated surface cells.

1. Controlled Exfoliation
Carefully selected exfoliating ingredients help loosen accumulated surface skin cells.

2. Surface Skin Renewal
As surface buildup is reduced, the skin may appear smoother, fresher and more refined.

3. Targeted Skin Concerns
Different formulations may be selected for concerns involving congestion, uneven-looking pigmentation, dullness or early signs of ageing.

4. Recovery & Barrier Support
Appropriate aftercare helps protect the skin barrier while the treated skin recovers.

Institute BCN Professional Chemical Peels

Institute BCN offers professional chemical peel formulations developed for different skin concerns. Its numbered products are distinguished by their ingredients and intended applications, rather than representing a simple progression from mild to strong.

The product formulations shown below are based on the supplied BCN Peel #01, #02 and #03 product labels. Each is intended for professional use, subject to applicable product restrictions and practitioner suitability.

BCN Peel #01 – Acne-Prone & Congested Skin

BCN Peel #01 is an acne-focused professional chemical peel formulated with salicylic acid and mandelic acid.

Labelled formulation:
15% Salicylic Acid (BHA)
15% Mandelic Acid (AHA)
Labelled pH range: 1.5–2.5

Salicylic acid is commonly used in exfoliating treatments for oily and congestion-prone skin. Mandelic acid is an AHA used in surface exfoliation and skin-texture care.

BCN Peel #01 is intended for selected concerns involving acne-prone skin, excess surface oil and congested-looking pores. Active acne, inflamed lesions or impaired skin barriers require careful assessment, and some conditions may be better managed medically.

BCN Peel #02 – Fine Lines & Ageing Skin Concerns

BCN Peel #02 is positioned towards selected skin-ageing concerns and contains mandelic acid and glycolic acid.

Labelled formulation:
20% Mandelic Acid (AHA)
30% Glycolic Acid (AHA)
Labelled pH range: 1.5–2.5

Glycolic acid is widely used in chemical exfoliation to improve the appearance of accumulated surface cells, dullness and uneven skin texture. Mandelic acid provides an additional exfoliating component.

When professionally appropriate, BCN Peel #02 may be considered for selected concerns involving roughness, dull-looking skin and the appearance of early fine lines.

A chemical peel does not reproduce the effects of surgical lifting and cannot guarantee wrinkle correction or reversal of skin ageing.

BCN Peel #03 – Pigmentation & Uneven Skin Tone

BCN Peel #03 is a pigmentation-focused professional exfoliation formulation containing three alpha hydroxy acids.

Labelled formulation:
20% Lactic Acid (AHA)
20% Mandelic Acid (AHA)
20% Glycolic Acid (AHA)
Labelled pH range: 1.5–2.5

These exfoliating acids are used in skincare formulations intended to improve the appearance of surface irregularities, dullness and certain uneven skin-tone concerns.

BCN Peel #03 may be considered for selected pigmentation-related concerns after an appropriate assessment. The underlying cause of pigmentation must be considered, as some conditions are not suitable for chemical exfoliation.

Pigmentation-prone and darker skin phototypes may be especially vulnerable to post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation following irritation. Careful treatment selection and consistent sun protection are essential.

DOCTOR BABOR PRO Professional AHA Peeling

DOCTOR BABOR PRO Professional AHA Peeling is a professional exfoliation range designed for selected skin-renewal treatments. AHA stands for alpha hydroxy acid, a group of exfoliating ingredients commonly used to help remove accumulated surface skin cells.

The professional BABOR AHA range shown in our product reference images includes formulations labelled with different acid strengths and intensity classifications.

10% AHA – Intensity 1 / Low
Labelled pH: 3.5
A lower-intensity option within the pictured professional range.

20% AHA – Intensity 3 / Medium
Labelled pH: 2.7
A higher-intensity professional exfoliation formulation requiring careful suitability assessment.

30% AHA – Intensity 4 / Strong
Labelled pH: 2.7
A stronger professional formulation requiring appropriate professional competency and strict adherence to the product instructions.

Depending on the formulation and suitability, AHA exfoliation may help improve the appearance of dullness, uneven surface texture and selected early signs of skin ageing.

The stronger formulation is not automatically the best choice. A lower-intensity approach, alternative treatment or postponement may be more appropriate depending on the skin condition.

BCN Peels & BABOR AHA – Understanding the Difference

Both Institute BCN and DOCTOR BABOR PRO offer professional exfoliation options, but the individual formulations have different ingredient combinations, acidity levels and intended applications.

BCN Peel #01
Positioned for acne-prone and congested skin concerns.

BCN Peel #02
Positioned for selected fine-line, texture and skin-ageing concerns.

BCN Peel #03
Positioned for selected pigmentation and uneven skin-tone concerns.

DOCTOR BABOR PRO AHA
Offers different labelled intensities of professional AHA exfoliation for suitable skin-renewal applications.

The percentage printed on a product label does not, on its own, determine how deeply a peel will act or how suitable it is for a particular person.

Which Skin Concerns May Benefit from Chemical Exfoliation?

Acne-Prone & Congested Skin
Selected formulations may help manage superficial buildup and the appearance of congested pores.

Dull & Uneven-Looking Skin
Exfoliation may reveal a fresher-looking complexion by reducing accumulated surface skin cells.

Fine Lines & Surface Texture
Certain formulations may contribute to a smoother skin surface and improvements in the appearance of selected fine lines.

Pigmentation & Uneven Skin Tone
Suitable exfoliation may be considered for some superficial pigment-related concerns, depending on their cause and individual risk factors.

Sensitive or Compromised Skin
Chemical peeling may need to be postponed or avoided when the skin barrier is impaired, inflamed or highly reactive.

What to Expect During a Professional Peel Consultation

Step 1 – Personalised Skin Assessment
Your skin concerns, medical history, medications, previous treatments, allergies and pigmentation risk are reviewed.

Step 2 – Product Selection & Suitability
A suitable exfoliation option is considered according to your skin condition, the product's professional-use restrictions and the practitioner's qualifications.

Step 3 – Professional Treatment
When appropriate, the treatment follows the manufacturer's specific preparation, application, removal or neutralisation procedures.

Step 4 – Recovery & Skin Barrier Care
Suitable moisturising products, sun-protection guidance and individual recovery instructions are provided.

Results & Treatment Planning

Where suitable, chemical exfoliation may contribute to a smoother-looking texture, improved surface clarity and a fresher complexion.

Results vary according to the formulation, treatment intensity, skin condition and individual response. Some skin concerns may require multiple appropriately spaced treatments or an alternative treatment approach.

No specific degree of pigmentation reduction, acne-scar improvement or wrinkle correction can be guaranteed.

Recovery & Aftercare

Following a chemical peel, temporary redness, dryness, tightness, sensitivity, flaking or visible peeling may occur. The intensity and duration of recovery depend on the product used and the individual's skin response.

Follow the aftercare instructions provided by your practitioner. Gentle cleansing, appropriate moisturising and consistent broad-spectrum sun protection are important during recovery.

Avoid picking or pulling peeling skin. Strong exfoliating products, scrubs, excessive heat and additional intensive treatments may need to be avoided until the skin has recovered.

Seek prompt professional or medical assessment if you experience severe pain, blistering, burns, significant swelling or other unexpected symptoms.

Safety & Important Considerations

Chemical peeling is not risk-free. Possible complications include irritation, chemical burns, prolonged redness, infection, post-inflammatory pigmentation changes and scarring.

Extra caution is important for people with darker skin phototypes, active inflammation, damaged skin barriers, recent sun exposure, certain medications or recent aesthetic procedures.

The BCN professional peel formulations and DOCTOR BABOR PRO AHA products shown in this article include different concentrations and pH levels. Some formulations may be restricted to appropriately qualified healthcare professionals or require additional professional competency and safety procedures.

Product selection and application must comply with the manufacturer's instructions, professional-use restrictions and applicable Australian requirements. An individual consultation does not override those restrictions.

Professional Skin Renewal at Glowvia Beauty Lab

At Glowvia Beauty Lab, we believe that thoughtful skin renewal means selecting the right approach for the individual rather than simply choosing a stronger peel.

Our skincare philosophy focuses on understanding your concerns, maintaining skin-barrier health, reviewing professional treatment options and discussing realistic expectations.

Where a particular professional peel is suitable and permitted within the practitioner's scope, it may form part of an individualised skin-renewal plan. Otherwise, a gentler exfoliation or alternative skin treatment may be recommended.
