Hydrodermabrasion Facial – Deep Cleansing, Exfoliation & Hydration
Cleanse · Exfoliate · Refresh · Hydrate
At Glowvia Beauty Lab, we believe that healthy-looking skin begins with thoughtful cleansing, suitable exfoliation and consistent hydration.
Hydrodermabrasion Facial is a non-surgical skincare treatment that combines water-based cleansing, controlled exfoliation and suction-assisted removal of surface debris. Depending on the treatment system, suitable hydrating solutions may also be applied during the facial.
This approach may help refresh dull-looking skin, improve the appearance of surface congestion and leave the complexion feeling smoother and more hydrated.
What Is Hydrodermabrasion?
Hydrodermabrasion is a water-assisted facial exfoliation technique. It uses a specially designed treatment tip to work across the skin while cleansing fluid and suction are applied according to the equipment's design.
Unlike traditional crystal microdermabrasion, hydrodermabrasion generally uses a fluid-based approach rather than abrasive crystals. However, the intensity of exfoliation can still vary between devices and treatment settings.
The treatment is primarily aimed at the outer skin surface and visible congestion. It does not permanently reduce pore size or treat every underlying cause of acne.
How Does Hydrodermabrasion Work?
Hydrodermabrasion may combine several treatment actions, depending on the equipment and products used.
1. Water-Based Cleansing
A controlled flow of cleansing solution helps loosen surface impurities and excess oil as the treatment tip moves across the skin.
2. Gentle Surface Exfoliation
The treatment tip helps remove some accumulated dead skin cells from the outer surface, supporting a smoother-looking complexion.
3. Suction-Assisted Pore Care
Controlled suction may help lift loosened oil and debris from the skin surface and some superficial pore openings. Deep or impacted comedones may require another approach.
4. Hydration & Skin Conditioning
Suitable moisturising or hydrating products may be applied during or after the procedure to support skin comfort and reduce the feeling of dryness.
Skin Concerns Hydrodermabrasion May Address
Congested Pores & Surface Buildup
The treatment may help remove superficial debris and excess oil that contribute to a congested skin appearance.
Blackheads & Mild Comedonal Congestion
Some superficial congestion may respond to cleansing and suction. Persistent blackheads and closed comedones may need targeted extraction or a different treatment plan.
Dull & Uneven-Looking Texture
Removing accumulated surface cells may help the skin look fresher and feel smoother.
Dehydrated-Looking Skin
Appropriate hydrating skincare may temporarily improve the appearance and feel of skin lacking surface moisture.
Oily or Combination Skin
A personalised treatment may help manage surface oil and visible congestion without relying on unnecessarily aggressive exfoliation.
Hydrodermabrasion is not a substitute for medical treatment of inflammatory acne, rosacea, eczema or other skin disorders.
Hydrodermabrasion vs Traditional Exfoliation
Traditional facial exfoliation may use manual exfoliating products, enzymes, acids or mechanical equipment to remove accumulated surface cells.
Hydrodermabrasion combines a water-based technique with controlled suction, allowing cleansing and exfoliation to take place during the same treatment stage.
No single exfoliation method is ideal for every skin type. Sensitive, compromised or inflamed skin may require a gentler approach or postponement of exfoliation.
What to Expect During Your Facial
Step 1 – Skin Consultation
We discuss your skin concerns, skincare routine, previous procedures and any sensitivities or conditions that may affect treatment suitability.
Step 2 – Initial Cleansing
The skin is prepared with appropriate cleansing to remove surface makeup, oil and impurities.
Step 3 – Hydrodermabrasion Treatment
The treatment handpiece is moved across suitable areas using controlled fluid flow and suction. Settings are adjusted according to skin condition and the equipment protocol.
Step 4 – Hydration & Skin Comfort
Suitable moisturising products or a soothing mask may be applied according to your skin's needs and the facial selected.
Step 5 – Homecare Guidance
We provide personalised advice to help maintain hydration and avoid unnecessary irritation after treatment.
Can Hydrodermabrasion Be Combined with Other Treatments?
Hydrodermabrasion may form part of a broader facial treatment plan when the skin is suitable. Depending on individual needs, a practitioner may consider complementary hydration, moisturising masks or other gentle skincare steps.
Combining hydrodermabrasion with strong chemical peels, microneedling, laser or other intensive procedures requires careful assessment. These combinations are not automatically suitable or beneficial for every skin type.
Results & Treatment Frequency
Following a suitable hydrodermabrasion facial, some clients may notice that their skin feels smoother, cleaner and more hydrated.
These changes may be temporary. Treatment frequency depends on skin sensitivity, exfoliation tolerance, congestion and the rest of the skincare programme.
Repeated or aggressive exfoliation is not always helpful and may worsen skin-barrier irritation. Our approach is guided by individual needs rather than a fixed schedule.
Recovery & Aftercare
Mild temporary redness, tightness, dryness or sensitivity can occur after hydrodermabrasion, especially when the skin is delicate or reactive.
Follow your practitioner's aftercare recommendations. Gentle cleansing, appropriate moisturising and daily broad-spectrum sun protection are usually important parts of post-treatment skincare.
Strong exfoliating acids, scrubs or other potentially irritating products may need to be avoided for a period appropriate to your skin response.
Safety & Important Considerations
Hydrodermabrasion is not suitable for every person or skin condition. Active infections, broken skin, severe inflammation, significant sensitivity and certain recent cosmetic procedures may require postponement or another treatment approach.
Excessive suction or exfoliation may cause irritation, bruising, broken superficial blood vessels or other unwanted skin reactions. Some treatment solutions may also cause sensitivity or allergic reactions.
Please disclose relevant medications, recent treatments, allergies and skin conditions before your facial so an appropriate assessment can be completed.
